Papua New Guinea tennis player Abigail Tere-Apisah came up short in the final of the Queensland Money Race event in Brisbane.

The 23 year old, who is ranked 946 in the world, was beaten 6-2 6-2 by Slovakia's top seed and former world number 263, Zuzana Zlochova.

The third-seeded Tere-Apisah had won her previous three matches, including a semi final victory over the Anna Wishink, who has been as high as 495 in the WTA rankings.

She was a part of Pacific Oceania's successful Fed Cup team last year and will represent the region later this month in the Asia/Pacific Tennis League, during the second week of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
