The Prime Minister's Office in Vanuatu is investigating a Facebook page purporting to be that of the caretaker prime minister, Sato Kilman.
The Office says the profile, which has appeared on the popular Yumi Toktok Stret forum, is not Mr Kilman's and the government chief information officer as well as the police are investigating.
A spokesperson says once the people who created the profiles are identified, they will be dealt with in the appropriate manner, including criminal charges.
The office has asked those responsible to stop.
