The Fiji Under 19 cricketers have ended their two-week tour of Australia by defeating the Scorchers XI by three runs on the Sunshine Coast.

Josaia Baleicikoibia top scored 75 not out in Fiji's 249 for 8, with the Scorchers coming up just short.

The two-week training camp was part of Fiji's final preparations for the Under 19 World Cup in Bangladesh, which gets underway next week.

Head coach Shane Jurgensen says the five-matches were just what was needed.

"We haven't really played a lot of 50 over cricket in recent times, compared to other boys from other teams around the world that play cricket consistently., so that's always going to be our big battle is our game awareness in certain situations: what to bowl when, what fields to set and obviously our concentration levels will be a big key as well. We're going to need to make sure that we stay focused because these games will be high-scoring in Bangladesh than what we have experienced previously".

The Fiji team flies out to the World Cup tomorrow and play their first match against England on the 27th.
