The Northern Marianas says it needs another US$14 million to rebuild homes destroyed by Typhoon Soudelor last year.
More than five months after the typhoon cut a destructive path through Saipan, the island is still to recover with residents needing money to repair and rebuild their homes.
The Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts say they are working on 591 cases that need housing repairs and rebuilding.
The slow pace of rebuilding is further exacerbated by the lack of construction workers.
According to the CNMI authorities there are only 924 construction workers in the entire territory.
The scarcity of workers has led to increased costs, which is further driving up the overall cost of the reconstruction.
