Sport: Late wickets a setback for PNG Barramundis

A couple of late wickets have put Ireland in control of at the halfway point in their Intercontinental Cup cricket match against Papua New Guinea in Townsville.

PNG had the upper hand early on day two, as Ireland went from 232 for 5 to be all out for 289, with Norman Vanua the pick of the bowlers with 5 for 59.

In reply, Vani Morea was caught behind in the first over.

The Barramundi's recovered to be well placed at 149 for 5 before two wickets in the last ten overs pegged them back to 166 for 7 at stumps.

Assad Vala was the mainstay of the PNG innings and finished 104 not out at the end of the day.
