Sport: Fijiana 6th in Sao Paulo, Guam 2nd in India

Fiji have been beaten 17-5 by France in the Plate final at the Women's World Sevens Series event in Sao Paulo.

The Fijiana were earlier beaten by Australia in the Cup quarter finals, but bounced back to beat England 26-12 in the Plate semis.

Sixth place is one place better than their finish in December's opening leg in Dubai.

The Fijiana stay seventh in the World Series standings.

The next leg is in Atlanta in seven weeks time.

Meanwhile the Guam women's team finished runners-up at the Asian Rugby Development Sevens in Chennai.

Having gone through the round-robin stage unbeaten, the US territory were pipped 24-19 in the final by South Korea, conceding the winning try in extra time.
