PNG "missing out on millions"

Papua New Guinea's chief secretary Isaac Lupari says the country is missing out on millions in overseas aid because of the complacency of public servants.

He told the newspaper The National there is much money available from PNG's development partners which is not being accessed.

He said many aid agreements are being signed but there is no follow up.

Mr Lupari said a lot of support has been pledged from Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand.

He said he does not think PNG is getting one cent out of the one-billion US dollars in aid pledged to the Pacific by China.

Mr Lupari called for better co-ordination and a follow up system to get aid projects underway.
