Aid organisations in Fiji are focusing on providing some of the most basic materials to children in the country as they try to get back to their normal lives.

The Sangam Fiji organisation has been providing hot meals at schools and sending out stationery kits to students.

Save the Children say many do not have school bags and this can prevent children from having the confidence to head back to class.

Melanie Patterson from Save the Children said they have provided art and craft supplies, toys and school bags to children.

"There are children who are not returning to school because they do not have school bags, and that has been one of our focuses in the last week, is getting school bags out to children. It seems like such a simple thing to us but when everything has been blown away and you come from a small village, it's so difficult to access a school bag, and exercise books and pens and pencils."
