Shake up coming for Cooks opposition

Leader of the One Cook Islands party Teina Bishop is being touted as the new deputy leader of the opposition.

Mr Bishop had said he was seriously considering taking up the offer.

Current deputy opposition leader Tamaiva Tuavera said he was happy to move aside, but made it clear he would stay as deputy leader of the main opposition Democrats party.

Our correspondent reported that the opposition leader and Democrats boss, William Heather, rarely, if ever, issued public statements or interacted with the media.
