Fake notes circulate in Samoa

4:52 pm on 11 March 2016

The Central Bank of Samoa has warned about the circulation of fake currency in recent weeks.

A statement from the Bank says a number of counterfeit notes have been presented to it.

The Bank says there is some resemblance to a genuine note, but the counterfeits can be distinguished by the absence of several features such as the watermark.

The public and the business community are advised to carefully check all notes which come into their possession.
