Sport: PNG Hunters close to full strength for home debut

2:36 pm on 16 March 2016

The Papua New Guinea Hunters are close to full strength for their first home match of the season, against Tweed Heads Seagulls.

The Hunters won 24-10 at Wynnum Manly on Sunday - their first ever victory at Kougari Oval - and are one of just three unbeaten teams after two rounds, alongside the Burleigh Bears and Townsville Blackhawks.

Co-captain Adam Korave will make his return from the interchange bench at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby, after missing the opening two matches through suspension.

Head coach Michael Marum said he's raring to go.

"Adam has been training really hard for the last few months and he's fired up to play. Also Atte and Adex Wera are coming off a suspension for last weekend's game so those players are going to be in this team somewhere."

Adex Wera and Atte Bine will also return from the bench.

Benjamin Hetra has been omitted from the squad while Noel Zeming will start in the centres, after both players stayed behind in Brisbane for scans on problems with their knees.
