The case centres on allegations of conspiracy by the deputy prime minister Joe Natuman.

A former prime minister who is now in jail, Moana Carcasses Kalosil, made the claim that Mr Natuman had conspired to defeat the course of justice when he was prime minister and minister for police.

It concerns his suspension last year of investigations into a 2012 mutiny case involving rival high ranking police officers.

The chief magistrate has made a preliminary inquiry into the claim and is now due to release this decision on 22 April.
