The prime minister of the Cook Islands, Henry Puna, says he believes a quota management system will ensure the sustainability of Pacific fisheries.

Mr Puna is one of about 40 Pacific fisheries ministers and officials who are in Wellington for a study tour of New Zealand's approach to catch-based management systems.
New Zealand prime minister John Key offered the tour at last year's Pacific Islands Forum leaders' summit as part of a US$34 million fund to extoll the virtues of the system New Zealand has used for many years.
Mr Puna said he thinks the New Zealand system is one of the best in the world: "We all share a common objective of making sure that fisheries in the Pacific is sustainable well into the future and we believe that the quota management system will deliver that for us."
The fisheries study tour will include a visit to Nelson's technical training school.
