Samoa's Steffi Carruthers was even more convincing, winning 6-0 6-1 against Sara Amiri.

And with the tie wrapped up, Palau's Ayana Rengiil and Tahiti's Mayka Zima made their Fed Cup debut in the doubles, beating Amiri and Ghazaleh Torkaman 6-4 6-2 to complete a clean sweep.

Pacific Oceania's next match in Group A is today against the top seeded Philippines.
