US Navy says it complies with Endangered Species Act

The US Department of the Navy said it's in compliance with the Endangered Species Act with regards to its activities over the Mariana Islands Training and Testing programme.

The Navy asserted its compliance after it received criticism from local and national groups over an alleged failure to comply with environmental law with regards to its activities in the MITT.

The Navy said it has reinitiated consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in accordance with the 2015 Biological Opinion, to ensure that the Navy's training activities remain fully compliant with all relevant provision of the Act.

Joint Region Marianas separately said that the Navy believed it has addressed the concerns raised by Earthjustice and for Center of Biological Diversity, which represent multiple parties that last February threatened to sue the Navy for violation of the Act in its activities in the MITT.
