TB fears over Chinese boat in Tahiti

Reports from French Polynesia say a Chinese fishing boat has been placed under quarantine over suspected tuberculosis.

The local newspaper says an Indonesian crew member of the Sheng Ghang Fa 18 had been admitted to hospital in Tahiti with severe pain and first tests show he is suffering from tuberculosis.

The other 14 people on the boat, who ar from Indonesia, China and Fiji, had briefly been placed in quarantine.

The reports say the hospitalised man will be under observation for at least a week.
