Work is finally set to begin to American Samoa schools wrecked by the tsunami in 2009.

Taputapu Elementary School and the Early Childhood Education Center in the village of Poloa were completely destroyed by the earthquake-triggered tsunami.

Funding of US$3 million from the Federal Emergency Management Administration has been available since shortly after the 2009 tsunami but land issues have delayed a start until now.

This week the Office of Procurement selected three different local construction companies to build the new schools.
