American Samoa's governing duo seek re-election

7:01 am on 16 May 2016

American Samoa's governor and his deputy plan to seek re-election in November's elections.

The announcement by Lolo Matalasi Moliga put to rest speculation in the territory that he would not run on the same ticket as lieutenant governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga.

In an advertisement in the Samoa News newspaper, they said they still had a lot to do to better the lives of people in the territory, but they did not provide specific details.

No other candidates have come forth for the gubnertorial race.

American Samoa will vote on the same date as the United States presidential elections, which American Samoans cannot take part in.
