Health workers in Fiji say they would like to see more mobile health clinics in areas still recovering from Cyclone Winston.

A number of clinics have been run in the country's western and northern divisions over the past couple of months, with some teams wading through rivers or riding horses to reach remote communities.

Retired midwife Kasanita Naioko was part of one group who were able to provide reproductive health advice to women, including 77 pap smears in four weeks.

She said despite the cold and rainy mountainous terrain they lived in during the programme, the clinic was worth the effort.

Ms Naioko said she would recommend the clinics continue, having seen how they met the needs of people who could not make it to health facilities.
