A student leader from the University of Papua New Guinea has no regrets about the protest that led to the cancellation of the academic year.
The student boycott of classes started at the beginning of May in an effort to pressure the Prime Minister into stepping down to face fraud allegations.
The University abandoned the academic year on Tuesday, but the student leader, Gerald Turumanu-Peni, said the students did the right thing.
"As a patriotic citizen I still feel that it's the right thing to do. This was the last defence, the last voice of the country against corruption."
Gerald Turumanu-Peni said UPNG students were in a state of confusion about whether they would be able to complete their studies.
