Sport: Snedeker to play at Fiji golf International

8:49 am on 23 July 2016

The veteran American golfer Brandt Snedeker will be the headline name at the third edition of the Fiji International at Natadola Bay.

The world number 23, Brandt Snedeker is an eight time winner on the PGA Tour.

His most recent victory came in February in the United States and the long-time professional says he's keen to make it nine in October.

"I am excited to be coming to play in the Fiji International. I enjoy competing all over the world but this will be my first time playing a golf tournament in Fiji," said Snedeker.

"I will try not to get too distracted by the beauty of Fiji as I would love to win another golf tournament this year."

Snedeker also revealed that a positive endorsement from 2015 champion, Matt Kuchar, helped to lure him to the Pacific.

"Matt returned from the Fiji International saying such fantastic things about the tournament that I decided I needed to come."

"He told me all about the beauty and challenge of the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course but also the friendly people and the fun things to do away from the golf course, so I am also bringing my family," said Snedeker.

"Hopefully just like Matt I win the Fiji International. What could be better than combining a family holiday with winning a European Tour tournament?"

The Fiji International is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and the European Tour and tees off on October 6.
