US to raise non-payment of police overtime in territory

The United States labour department plans to raise the non-payment of overtime for police officers with the American Samoan government.

The issue of unpaid overtime, which dates back to previous administrations, has been the subject of several Fono hearings and discussions at the cabinet level.

But little progress has been made, and our correspondent says police, firefighters and corrections officers are far from satisfied with the response.
