Cooks Tourism projects record growth, again

9:57 am on 8 August 2016

The Cook Islands Tourism Corporation is projecting record growth in visitor arrivals of about 10 to 15 percent by the end of the year.

The agency said this year's numbers were likely to eclipse last year's growth, which saw the highest number of visitors ever recorded in the country.

Its chief executive, Halatoa Fua, told the Cook Islands News that the biggest growth was from the New Zealand market, but there had also been an increase in arrivals from Europe and Asia.

Mr Fua said the country was working to sustain growth and improve the industry, but that growth could be constrained by the amount of accommodation available in the country.
