Fijian man sentenced to life for murder of Australian tourist

A 35-year-old surf instructor has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an Australian tourist in Fiji two years ago.

Tracy Ann O'Brien Maw was found dead in Sigatoka in 2014, her body severely beaten and left hidden in bush near the side of a road.

Lloyd Senikauvava received a minimum term of 16 years to be served before he was eligible for parole.

Ms O'Brien Maw was from Shepparton in the Australian state of Victoria.

Before her death she had shared distressing posts in a closed Facebook group about a relationship with a Fijian man that had recently ended.
