Papua New Guinea cricket coach Dipak Patel wants to see more progress from his players, following an impressive start to the annual SACA League.

The Barramundi's won their opening match against the Southern Force last weekend, chasing down 269 runs with seven overs to spare.

Their second match was abandonded because of thunderstorms with PNG 119 for 6 in favourable bowling conditions.

The one-day matches resume this weekend against the Eastern Edge and Western Grit and Patel said his team needs to maintain focus.

"That's very important that our guys understand that as soon as we let our guard down we don't play often enough to rectify it so it's a learning curve from that perspective as well, for our players, that you've just got to keep working hard and make sure that you understand your game to the level that at any given time, in a game situation, at tight pressure time that you're able to react and that's where we're trying to get these guys to," he said.

Following this weekend's action the SACA League relocates to Adelaide for the remaining one and two day matches.
