4:39 pm on 14 October 2016

Russia and the United Nations Development Programme are combining for a disaster resilience project in the Pacific's Small Island Developing States.

The Pacific is frequently threatened by natural hazards such as cyclones, earthquakes, volcanoes, droughts and floods.

The three-year project aims to improve resilience to climate-related hazards and to strengthen the countries' ability to reduce the impacts of disasters.

The project aims to have policy makers, government agencies and the public to make informed decisions, guided by climate data.
