Vanuatu will receive funding for major building repairs

Vanuatu will receive $US2.6 million dollars from Australia to repair and rebuild some of the public buildings destroyed by Cyclone Pam last year.

The chairman of the cyclone recovery committee, MP Jonny Koanapo, said the government lacks the resources to restore damaged buildings.

The first part of the funding will include repairs and rebuilding on seven police houses in Port Vila, 14 police houses on Tanna, the Lenakel Stadium on Tanna, the Tafea Police head quarters, the water supply system on Lenami on Tanna, the Police College and the Parliament House in the capital, Port Vila.
