Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho was appointed eight months ago after being made the acting police commissioner following last November's sudden resignation of Ben Groenewald.

Speaking from Indonesia, Brigadier General Qiliho said while he is away his deputy Isikeli Ligairi will be the acting commissioner.

In response to fresh allegations of police brutality he said police will not condone it under his watch.

Before joining the police force, Brigadier General Qiliho was the military's land force commander.
