The minister is in Indonesia where he thanked Jakarta for sending 100 military engineers to undertake repairs after Cyclone Winston.

He also told the chief of the Indonesia National Armed Forces, the TNI, Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, that he hoped the cordial relations could be further enhanced by a defence co-operation deal.

Ratu Inoke said this cooperation would help Fiji in areas of training, education and capacity building, and could include joint exercises between the military and navy of the two countries.

General Gatot welcomed the suggestion of a defence co-operation MOU and the opportunity to deepen Indonesia and Fiji relations through it.
