The price of New Caledonia's main export commodity, nickel, has gone up by four percent in an apparent response to the US election outcome.

The three companies with smelters in New Caledonia have seen a jump in their share values as the nickel price reached a 16-month high.

Eramet's share price shot up by more than ten percent.

In the lead-up to this week's election, Donald Trump said he would invest into improving infrastructure, which would boost demand for metals.
