The case also resulted in publisher and columnist George Pitt being sued by the government for alleged contempt of court over two articles he wrote and published on the trial in June.

Affidavits from police and the Law Society support the allegations against Mr Pitt who has retaliated against the action taken by Crown Law stating he would order for both radio and television stations owned by his company to be switched off.

Mr Pitt has also implied he would disclose sensitive information on some government politicians if Crown Law pursues the case.

The appeal case is expected to be heard over two days.
