CNMI casino operator gets licence back

A Northern Marianas court has stopped the Rota Casino Gaming Commission from revoking the casino licence of the Rota Resort and Country Club.

Last month, Rota Resort filed the lawsuit against the regulatory agency for allegedly declaring that its conditional casino licence had expired in July this year, a move that was outside the requirements of the Open Government Act.

Superior Court judge Joseph Camacho issued a permanent injunction on the Commission's move.

Gambling is now legal on all three major islands in the CNMI but on Rota the industry is still to take off.
