A company that plans to build a Titanic themed hotel casino on Tinian in the Northern Marianas says it wants to revive the mothballed ferry service to Saipan.

The Bridge Investment Group said it hopes this will bring in more tourists and spur economic growth.

It said had already bought a 50-metre ferry and is planning to begin construction of a terminal in the next two months with the aim of launching a Saipan-Tinian ferry service by March or April next year.

The Tinian Ocean View Resort is to be developed in two phases.

Phase one will include the main hotel and casino and phase two will expand the casino programme into an adjoining Titanic replica sitting on Tinian harbour.

Currently travel between Saipan and Tinian is exclusively by air.
