Vanuatu passes right to information laws

Vanuatu's parliament has unanimously passed right to information laws.

Most MPs spoke in favour of the laws in parliament today, saying it was in the interest of the society and open government.

The law requires the government to publish information of its functions and activities for public consumption.

The bill was tabled by the prime minister, Charlot Salwai.
