A man is dead and two homes were set on fire after a fight broke out a wedding in Vanuatu on Friday evening.
The dead man is from Tanna, and the Daily Post reports that he was hacked with a knife by someone from Malekula.
The houses were reportedly set on fire as an act of revenge by relatives of the dead man.
A spokesperson for the Port Vila-based Erakor Council of Chiefs sas the situation is tense and it plans to talk with chiefs from both families once the tension eases.
The spokesperson says the village council bans weddings from being organised from November to December to avoid such problems destroying the festive season.
