The Fiji opposition party, Sodelpa, says the government needs to urgently to review its assistance to Cyclone Winston victims.

The Sodelpa leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, says while people are still living in tents ten months after the event, his party has not forgotten them.

He claims the government has taken a cynical view to helping those still without housing after the category five cyclone.

Mr Rabuka says the government is devoting most of its energies to looking good on the international stage and ignoring the plight of the ordinary people at home.

He says the Help for Homes Initiative, a key scheme by the government following the cyclone, has become a monumental scandal and failure.

Mr Rabuka says there are no guarantees about the quality of homes being built while hundreds are still in tents and makeshift shelters, and scrounging for food.
