Mr O'Connor said the position is totally different and a larger role from that of the previous General Manager.

The previous General Managers were only responsible for the High Performance and Development Unit but the FRU said it believes Fiji cannot sustain high performance at the elite level if they do not get the basics at grassroots levels right.

Mr O'Connor said Webster's role will now also include oversight of all domestic and school competitions, junior development programmes and programmes for coaches, technical and match officials.

Webster said he is excited about his role and involvement with Fiji Rugby is looking forward to the challenge.
