The Fiji Electricity Authority's Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel told FBC News it wanted as little disruption to New Year's festivities as possible.

He said engineers were dispatched soon after flood waters receded to restore supply.

"In the Western Division and Central Division we had damages, I would say equal damages, and Sigatoka valley of course," he said.

"We finished off by Friday night so we have completed all the repairs and restore power supply."

Mr Patel added staff didn't have an easy time repairing hundreds of broken lines and electricity poles.
