American Samoa's governor's first choice for Commissioner of Public Safety Senator Tuaolo Fruean is not taking up the cabinet appointment.

Tuaolo told KHJ News that he has informed Governor Lolo Moliga that he will remain as Senator out of respect for the wishes of his district of Mauputasi.
Tuaolo said he has thanked Governor Lolo for his confidence in him and added his district and Paramount Chief Mauga Tasi Asuega wanted him to continue serving as senator for Ma'uputasi.
Tuaolo also said another person should be given the chance as he had already held that position during the Togiola Faoa administration.
