Reports from Samoa say efforts are underway to eliminate possible conflicts of interest within the police.
The reports say members of the police who are working together with close family relatives have been given until December to decide who would be continuing in the service and who should be leaving.

Sources say this is the advice contained in a letter from the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, who is now also the Minister of Police, directed at couples within the force as well as senior officers who have a son or a daughter in the police.
A senior officer says the advice was given to the ministry about three weeks ago.
A source in the Ministry of Police says the letter has raised concerns over the possible conflict of interest because of close family ties among several officers.
It is understood that at least 24 legally married couples are serving as police officers.
