Heavy rain cuts roads in New Caledonia

Heavy rain in New Caledonia has cut roads on the main island's east coast.

This comes as the public is being warned of heavy rain as an orange alert is in force.

Today, the east coast can expect up to 150 millimetres of rain in a 12 hour period today.

Unusually heavy rain along the east coast in November caused floods and landslides, killing eight people.
