The Northern Islands mayor in the Marianas Islands, Jerome Aldan, died suddenly on Saturday from what's thought to be a heart attack.

The Saipan tribune reports that Mr Aldan was seen leaving a restaurant early on Saturday morning shortly before he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.
Its reported Mr Aldan's wife was told by doctors that he died from a massive heart attack.
The Saipan and Northern Islands chair, Luis John Castro, is to act as mayor of the Northern Islands until the Governor names a replacement.
