Both teams are unbeaten after four rounds of the East Asia Pacific Qualifier in Bendigo, with today's match a winner-takes-all affair.

Fiji captain Jikoi Kida said they go into the match with nothing to lose.

"I think if we play as a team, we keep pressure on them, we can pressure them early...we're going as underdogs - I think that there's not much pressure on us, so all we need to do is play our own cricket, own style, stick to our game, so the pressure is on Vanuatu now," he said.

Vanuatu were relegated from Cricket League Five in May last year, after losing a tight playoff match.

Coach Shane Deitz said there was a lot at stake for both teams.

"If you don't get into the World Cricket League you're sort of left in the wilderness a little bit so it's pretty important that we try to get in there and get some more cricket for our boys, so a lot to play for and that's come down well."

"That's what it's about - big player stepping up in big situations so may the best team win and I'm sure both teams will give it everything they've got."

The other four teams are also hoping to finish on a winning note.

Samoa can ensure a third-place finish by beating Indonesia while Japan have one last chance to get off the mark against the Philippines.
