From October this year entry-level positions at public schools in the CNMI would start at $US16,100, up from $15,000.

Education authorities say it is about time wages were raised, particularly to retain and recruit employees.

The public school budget, approved last week, allows an additional $US3 million dollars to meet the wage adjustment.
