A New Caledonian motorist has been caught driving at 240 km/h on the main road outside La Foa.

The 44-year-old driver failed to stop at the speed checkpoint and was later apprehended in Boulouparis.
He was arrested and will appear in court charged with endangering others.
His vehicle, a Japanese sports car worth more than $US100,000, has been confiscated.
