The Papua provincial government in Indonesia is making efforts to expand its red fruit production.

Red fruit is endemic to New Guinea island and grows particularly well in the highland areas.

It is credited with helping people overcome several diseases.

Analysis shows red fruit has high quantities of carotenoids and tocopherol, which is rich in Vitamin E.

The Food Crops and Horticulture Department in Papua Province has set aside 546 hectares for the expansion of red fruit growing.
