He told people at Maramuni in Enga that if he becomes prime minister after the elections in June he would make moves to ensure the landowners got more benefit.

Mr Polye, who was launching an alluvial gold mining operation at Maramuni, said businesses now exploring for minerals or petroleum would face a new law that would maximise the benefits of the people, rather than the state or the developer.

He also said PNG needed to develop technological and technical skills among its people.
