Fiji water outage could affect as many as 200,000

As many as two-hundred thousand people in and around Fiji's capital, Suva, could be without water for up to two days.

The FBC reports the outages follow repairs to a main valve along the Suva-Nausori corridor.

The water authority's chief executive, Opetaia Ravi, says engineers have repaired a valve between the Wainibuku Reservoie and a pumping station.

However, he says an electrical outage has prevented pipes around the region from refilling, and it could take as long as two days to repair.

People are being urged to store whatever water they have and to use it wisely.
