The donation is for farmers living in the Ra, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Bua, Cakaudrove, Macuata, Rewa and Taveuni areas.

The council's chief executive, Jiu Daunivalu, says the money will be used for materials the farmers say are vital for their immediate needs.

She says the council is grateful for ongoing aid from the Chamber of Agriculture, which is both financial and technical.

Mrs Daunivalu says the chamber brings over 100 years of experience in commercial farming and this knowledge has already benefited the Council.
