The Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network will celebrate 20 years of service in Fiji this week.

Organised by the Pacific Community public health officials and experts from across the Pacific are expected to attend.

The SPC's Acting Deputy Director of Public Health Salanieta Saketa said as a network meant to serve for epidemic alert and communication, PacNet has been a success.

Dr Saketa said since its creation in April 1997, PacNet has expanded beyond the Pacific.

"You know 20 years on, they've been almost nine hundred health professionals already connected to PacNet and not just only people from the region, but also people internationally, in Europe and also from The United States of America," she said.
